These terms apply to every order placed with bakt, through our website, by email or over WhatsApp. By placing an order, you agree to them.

Ordering

  • Your order is confirmed once payment has been received and you’ve had a confirmation email.
  • We bake in small batches, so quantities are limited. If something sells out after you’ve paid, we’ll offer a different date, a substitute or a full refund.
  • Please check your order, date, address and contact details before paying. We’ll bake exactly what you’ve ordered.

Pre-orders

Some collections are sold as pre-orders.

  • You pay when you order, and your order will be ready from the date shown on the product page.
  • Pre-orders are baked in batches for that date, not before, so they’re as fresh as possible.
  • If something outside our control (such as a power outage, illness or a supplier delay) affects a pre-order date, we’ll let you know as soon as possible and offer a new date or a full refund.

Prices and payment

  • All prices are in South African rand, excluding VAT.
  • Delivery fees are shown at checkout.
  • We accept payment by card through payment provider / EFT. EFT orders are confirmed once the payment reflects in our account.
  • We may change prices from time to time, but the price you paid at checkout is the price you pay.

Pickup

  • Pickup is free from 309 Lucky Bean, Pretoria.
  • Choose a day and time slot at checkout, and we’ll email you when your order is ready.
  • Please collect your order during your slot. Orders not collected after an hour on your pickup day can’t be refunded. Please make sure to stay in contact should something come up.

Courier delivery

  • We deliver to the areas and at the fees shown at checkout and on our Delivery page.
  • Your order is packed to travel and delivered on the date you choose.
  • Please make sure someone is available to receive it. We can’t be responsible for orders left unattended at your request or delivered to an incorrect address you supplied.
  • Courier times are estimates. Delays caused by the courier, weather or other events outside our control don’t qualify for a refund, but we’ll always help chase a late delivery.

Refunds and cancellations

Because our bakes are perishable and made to order, we can’t accept returns. If your order arrives damaged, incomplete or not as described, please contact us within 24 hours with a photo, and we’ll make it right.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.

Allergens

  • Our kitchen handles nuts, sesame, wheat, eggs and dairy. Even when a bake doesn’t contain these, we can’t guarantee it’s free from traces.
  • Ingredients and allergens are listed on each product page. Please check them before ordering, and contact us if you have any questions.
  • If you’re ordering a gift, please pass the allergen information on to the recipient.
  • We can’t accept responsibility for allergic reactions where the allergen was listed or where we were told about an allergy after the order was baked, or not informed at all.

Storage and freshness

Our bakes are made without preservatives and are best enjoyed fresh. Storage instructions and best-before guidance are included with your order and on each product page. Once your order has been collected or delivered, storing it correctly is up to you.

Corporate and custom orders

Corporate and custom orders are confirmed when you approve the proof and pay the invoice. You confirm that you have the right to use any logos or artwork you send us for branding. Cancellation terms for these orders are in our Refunds & Cancellations policy.

Photos and content

All photos, designs, product names and text on this website belong to bakt. Please don’t use them without asking. Product photos are a guide: every bake is handmade, so yours may look slightly different.

Your personal information

We handle your information in line with POPIA, as explained in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on our website when you place your order is the one that applies.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
